Woman Caught Using Kid To Shoplift From CT Walmart: Police

A Connecticut woman was arrested after she brought and used a child to steal hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from Walmart, police said.

A 32-year-old New Haven County woman was arrested after she allegedly used a child to help her shoplift from a local Walmart, police said.

It happened on Monday, Sept. 25 in the city of Milford.

At approximately 1:20 p.m. that day, 32-year-old Ana Lugo walked into the Walmart, located at 1365 Boston Post Road, with a child, whose name and age were not released, according to the Milford Police Department.

Loss prevention officers at the Walmart reported seeing the woman hand the child merchandise.

The kid would then put the merchandise in their purse, copying the woman, who was doing the same.

The duo left the store without paying.

In total, they stole $278.78 in merchandise from the store.

Lugo was arrested and charged with:

  • Larceny; and
  • Risk of injury to a minor, for using the child to shoplift.

She is due in court on Tuesday, October 24.
